5 Must Read Books That Will Change Your Life
Do you remember having summer reading as a kid?...yeah I never did it either lol. These books are not your average reading books. If you want to get motivated, or take your life to the next level, you have to read these 5 books.
I was inspired to write this post by my recent experience speaking at the local detention center. Education is at the core of changing our future and learning from others is the way we will get educated.
For me, when I was introduced to reading about money, personal finance, and “self-help” I would sift through my local Barnes and Noble book section looking for my next favorite book. I have read a lot of books over the last 10 years and I have boiled the list down to 5 MUST READ’s.
1. Rich Dad Poor Dad
In this book, Robert Kiyosaki will open your mind to a whole new world of money. This is a mindset shift that will help get the wheels turning on taking your personal finances to the next level.
When I read this book, I had just finished Financial Peace University and it showed two contradicting approaches to money and wealth. The one huge take away from this book is that you will learn the difference between the poor and middle class and the rich. You will also learn how anyone can be rich based on the principles he outlines.
2. Total Money Makeover
If you are a “Debt Free” person then Dave Ramsey is your guy. This book outlines how to be financially stable and how to structure your personal finances to have true financial peace.
If you are just starting out on your money journey I highly recommend this book. Dave does a good job of breaking down his baby steps to reach financial independence. This is not so much about where to invest specifically but more of the habits and structure behind personal finance.

3. The Automatic Millionaire
This book inspired me to write the blog post One-Step Millionaire Life Hack . This is a quick read where David thoroughly explains the importance of taking advantage of compound interest.
If you are looking for a book that explains how to build long term wealth this is a great place to start.
4. How to Win Friends and Influence People
I read this book when I was 16 and it instantly shot my popular status through the roof in high school. I was a 5’4” trumpet player in marching band…not the ideal popular kid in a High School of 1500 students.
The principles Dale Carnegie outlines can be structured in all areas of our life. Whether you are in school or at work, influencing people and making friends is a skill that is always needed. I highly recommend this book if you are in need of an uplifting refreshing perspective change.
5. Cash Flow Quadrant
Another awesome book by Robert Kiyosaki, this book gives a new perspective on what it means to make money. Robert does a great job of articulating ways you can make money and discussing the difference between going to work every day and investing to make money.
If you feel trapped in the “rat race” this book will give you several goals to shoot for and motivation to make changes in your life.
Reading is not only educational, but it is also a way to keep your mind sharp. “The smartest people have the biggest library!”
